We've been attending the
Invasion for about 10 years now but only the past three
with the car. In the past we'd make it golf weekend with
a side trip to the show for a few hours. Even since
taking the car up we've only participated in a couple of
the events that take place over the full four days of
the show. To give you an idea of the magnitude of the
show, here's the event schedule from their web site.
Champlain Islands
Driving Tour - Thursday
For those arriving in Stowe early, this driving tour
will leave from Ye Olde England Inne on Thursday
morning, around 10:00 AM, for a scenic Vermont country
drive to the shore of Lake Champlain, where a special
lunch has been planned. This is one of the prettiest
spots in Vermont and a great drive over paved roads. The
cost of $40.00 per person is for lunch. Lunch coupons
will be provide on departure.
Driving Tour - Friday
A driving tour of the scenic Vermont country side,
culminates at the show field at the beginning of the
Registrants' Reception. The tour will travel over paved
roads around Stowe.
Registrant's Reception-
Friday 4-6pm
The official kick-off reception for this year’s British
Invasion is to be held under the tent at the STOWE
SPECIAL EVENTS FIELD. This event is open to all
Pre-Registered participants in the British Invasion
Weekend, Car owners and Vendors alike. An opportunity to
renew old acquaintances and make new ones. Registration
name badges are required for admission and must be worn
at all times.
British Classic Motor
Car Show
Judging of the British Classic Motorcar Show will be by
the vote of the Registrants (People's Choice). In
addition to Class Awards, "Special Awards" may be
presented by Sponsors, and the Executive Committee.
Meguiar's Products will present a special Sponsor's
Choice Award for their pick of the show.
Concours d'Elegance-
Saturday
The Concours d'Elegance is a "Judged" competition,
attracting exceptional show cars; must be British, over
15 years old, and may NOT be replicas. Judging of
entrants in the Concours d'Elegance competition will be
based on a 100-point system, similar to the Classic Car
Club of America (CCCA) judging rules. Criteria for
judging includes mechanical operation, paint, interior,
woodworking, undercarriage, chrome, engine compartment,
and authenticity. A minimum of 90 points is required for
1st place, 85 for 2nd place and 75 for 3rd place. In
case of a tie score, multiple awards will be presented.
All entrants will receive participation ribbons. A
special Award for the "Best of Concours" will be
presented by Meguiar's.
The British Pub- Saturday, Sunday
Beverages will be provided by Ye Olde England Inne,
former recipients of "The Vermont Inn Keepers Award".
The Notch Run Driving
Tour- Sunday
A driving tour of the scenic Vermont country side, which
will culminate at the show field. Leaving from the High
School parking lot the tour will travel over paved roads
through the Notch for a 70 minute morning drive.
Tailgate Picnic
Competition- Sunday
A display of creativity, good food, and things British.
This event has become a "Classic" and perhaps one of the
best Tailgate Competitions on the East Coast! Awards
will be given for "Most Elegant", "Most Creative", "Most
British", "Best Costume", "Best Tasting", "Most
Practical", "Most Outrageous", and "Most Humorous".
British Market Place &
Auto Jumble- Friday noon to Sunday
A collection of British Companies and vendors selling
British, and British like products and services. Hard to
find car spares, motoring accessories, motoring teddy
bears, British candy, Regalia, Barbour jackets, and
more.
British Car Corral -
Friday noon to Sunday
An opportunity to buy or sell a British Motor Car or
Motorcycle. "For Sale" signs are NOT allowed on the show
field. You may place a car for sale in the Car Corral.
but in so doing, it cannot compete for honors on the
show field. The Registration fee for the Car Corral
includes a Tour Plaque, admission for two to all field
events Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the
Registrants' Reception. If you are among the first 300
to register for the show you will also receive our
special "Meet Gift."
The Competition of
Colors - Sunday
On Sunday, vote for your favorite British Classic by
color. Competition includes RED, WHITE, BLUE, BRITISH
RACING GREEN, BLACK, TWO-TONE (for those of you who
couldn't decide what color to paint your car in the
first place), and RAINBOW, for all other colors not
previously mentioned.
And they forgot to mention
that on Friday night, the main street in Stowe Village
is closed to just British cars while a Beatles' Tribute
Band plays until 9:00 PM.
