Manifold Repair

For years I've been wanting to remove the air rail from my exhaust manifold but have never had the time or the opportunity. Well with the engine out of the car and the manifold off of the engine............now's the time!

This is not a pretty sight! What are the odds of getting those unscrewed?

Step 1......cut off the air rail.....that was easy!

I soaked the threaded pieces in rust buster stuff for about 2 weeks and.............they looked exactly the same as they had 2 weeks before. I think it's time to apply heat and hit it with an impact wrench.

These are the two worst ones Four came right out and those two broke
Time to cut, drill and tap All done

Now all I needed was some set screws to plug up the holes and some high temperature paint. For the paint I decided on POR-15's grey manifold paint which comes with their cleaner and metal etcher. The set screws I got at my local NAPA store.

The set screws went in with exhaust repair goop This was the rustiest section

First coat is done and the final coat goes on in 24 hours......what an improvement!
